Lansing, MI – In light of the recent mass break up of the campaign team put together to direct pro-Proposal 1 campaign, another group has re-branded the effort to support. The campaign to support Proposal 1 is a new look campaign team charged with guiding the passage of Proposal 1 on May 5th in Michigan. Proposal 1 is a $2 billion tax increase that, among many other things that diverts 40% of the monies to non-road related projects and increases the sales tax from 6% to 7%, an increase of 16.7%.
Paul Mitchell, Chairman of the Faith & Freedom Coalition and director of the Coalition Against Higher Taxes and Special Interest Deals had this to say following the new committee’s formation.
“Paid teams of spin doctors and political professionals are trying to disguise the special interest deals from voters in Proposal 1 and that won’t wash. Just because the pro-side of Proposal 1 ballot committee re-branded themselves, doesn’t mean they removed all the diverted monies for special interest projects from the proposal. Regardless of the amended name, Proposal 1 has the same special interest deals, still diverts 40% of the monies to non-related roads projects, and raises taxes on families almost $2 billion with $700 million having nothing to do with roads. Voters are smarter than the political tricks the spin doctors are attempting to hide the special interest deals from voters. Voters won’t be fooled and will vote no on Proposal 1.”
The Coalition Against Higher Taxes and Special Interest Deals has already begun social media advertising and grassroots organization. Their website, www.SayNoToHigherTaxes.org is due to be unveiled on February 9th, 2015. Additionally, thousands of pieces of literature are being distributed today across the state of Michigan – kicking off the Coalition’s activities to defeat the ballot measure in May.
